Common Name: Narrow Leaf Val, Val Nana
Average Mature Size: 12 to 20 inches
Recommended Light: Medium to High
Val Nana has the same growing power as any other Val species but in a neat thin-leaved package. This Val is known for its thin, grass-like foliage which grows in dense bunches around the aquarium. This particular species can prefer slightly more light than your typical vallisneria, but as always it is adaptable and hardy, perfect for new and experienced aquarists alike.
Because of the potential height, Val Nana is usually reserved to be a background plant. It is a prolific propagator, and will send out many shoots on its own called "runners", each developing one, or more likely several, small plantlets. Over time these plantlets will develop their own root systems and can be removed from the mother plant, either by delicately twisting them off of the stem, or simply chopping the runner with scissors.
