Common Name: Whorly Rotala, Red Pine
Average Mature Size: 8 to 24 inches
Recommended Light: High
Rotala Walichii is a visually stunning variety of the genus, with it's needle-like leaves and delicate fluffy appearance. The foliage on each stem gently transitions from a bright lime green to a light pinky-orange. When grown emersed, it produces petite lavender flowers. It is fast growing and is a show-stopping addition to any midground or background.
Walichii can be a somewhat demanding stem plant, requiring bright light and abundant nutrients, especially iron and phosphates. It grows particularly well in tanks that have elevated nitrogen levels, as long as they aren't extremely high. It can also benefit significantly from CO2 supplementation. This species naturally grows in slow moving waterways and ponds, and appreciates low flow tanks.
