Common Name: Rotala Orange Juice, Dwarf Rotala
Average Mature Size: 6 to 12 inches
Recommended Light: Medium to High
Rotala Orange Juice is a wonderful addition to any midground or background that could use a little color! With it's small, round leaves that range in color from spring green to peachy pink, its an easy fix for anybody with an aquascaping itch. In it's emersed form, it's leaves are almost entirely circular, leading to the name Rotundifolia.
It is quick growing and needs frequent pruning to ensure that the lower leaves still receive plenty of light and prevent shedding. You should start trimming when stems reach about 4 inches long if you want to cultivate a bushier appearance.
While it can grow in many substrates (even floating!), this rotala prefers finer grain size gravel and sand, and loves nutrient dense soils. When using inert substrates, make sure to supplement with root tabs and liquid iron to keep your plant growing happily! Rotala Orange Juice is very easy to propagate by replanting trimmings directly into the soil.
