Narrow leaf ludwigia is a versatile and simple plant, making it an excellent choice for beginner aquarists. It grows quickly under a variety of lighting and water parameters, and is easy to maintain. It has wide lobe leaves that range in color from green, to brown, to red/pink. The more lighting that is provided, the more vibrant colors it will develop. It can be kept at a range of sizes, allowing for placement in the foreground, midground, or background of the aquarium. Some even have success growing Ludwigia Repens in nano tanks.
It can be grown in a range of substrates, slightly preferring nutritious soil, and disliking fine sand. The plant will naturally develop aerial roots in between nodes to absorb more nutrients, making it easy to identify when and where to trim the stem. Stem cuttings can be easily replanted in the substrate for propagation, and frequent pruning causes the plant to develop one to two side shoots from each trimmed stem.
