Common Name: Willow Hygro, Hygrophila Augustifolia, Compact Hygrophila,
Average Mature Size: 4-8 inches
Recommended Light: Medium to High
Compact Hygro is a versatile stem plant with deep green leaves. This variety of Hygro is an excellent mid ground plant due to its dense, short growth. It is fast growing and great at soaking up excess nutrients. On top of that, it is incredibly easy to propagate through stem cuttings, simply trim in between nodes and replant into the soil. It is named for the way it billows in the water, like a willow tree in the wind.
Due to it's high nutrient consumption, Hygro is great for those who struggle with algae growth. It is still recommended to plant in a nutrient dense substrate, and/or supplement with root tabs when the leaves turn yellow.
