Common Name: Lucens, Small Crypt

Average Mature Size: 4 inches

Recommended Light: Low to Medium

Description: Crypt Lutea is an uncommon variety of cryptocoryne, known for it's thin, reed-like foliage that grows mostly vertically. The leaves are deep green and almond shaped, with thin brown stems. It is slow growing, making it ideal for a foreground or midground plant, and only requires low to medium light.

This species of crypt grows best in a nutrient rich substrate, but can be grown in inert substrate if it is supplemented with root tabs. It can be grown emersed in high humidity environments. As the plant reaches maturity, it will begin sending out runners that will eventually produce more plants with their own root systems. After a long time, the network of runners can create an almost carpeted appearance.  You can also propagate the plant by dividing it at the roots, or by separating runners from the mother plant.
