Hornwort is a highly popular aquatic plant for many reasons. It can grow in a wide range of parameters, be it temperature, pH, lighting, and even salinity. It's bushy foliage makes it an excellent hiding place for fish fry or shrimplets! It even has
99% of the time, you will see hornwort free floating in the water column. This is because hornwort does not grow roots when planted in the substrate. Typically when you try to plant hornwort, the buried portion will rot away. Sometimes, however, if the plant is held close to the substrate by other means, it can grow modified leaves that act as "roots" which anchor it to the ground.
The only real maintenance that hornwort requires is regular trimming to avoid overgrowth. It is very easy for hornwort to overtake a tank, blocking light and absorbing nutrients which other plant species in the tank need to survive.
