Common Name: Compact Aponogeton, Giant Aponogeton, Betta Bulb
Average Mature Height: Up to 20 Inches
Recommended Light: Medium to High
Native to Madagascar, these stunning true aquatic plants are built to shine in any aquarium scape. Each plant boasts long, gently undulating leaves that are a bright lime green. Leaf growth tends to spiral up a central stem in loose coils. On occasion, the rhizome will produce long vertical shoots that grow yellow flowers!
Ulvaceus plants thrive in warm, slightly acidic water (between 72-82F and 6.2-7.2 PH). While they can survive in partially shaded placements, they prefer to grow in full, bright light. They grow leaves directly out of a rhizomatous bulb, so it is recommended to leave at least half of the bulb above the substrate. The increased water flow will help prevent suffocation and rot in the plant.
