Common Name: Narrow-leaved Anubias
Average Mature Size: 6-10 inches
Recommended Light: Low to Medium
Similar to Anubias Congensis, Anubias Afzelii is known for it's longer and thinner oval shaped leaves. It is deep green in color, and makes an excellent addition to the background of any aquarium. The tough leaves and stems allow them to remain durable even with the addition of more aggressive species of livestock.
All species of Anubias are epiphytic, meaning their rhizomes must remain above the soil so that they can absorb nutrients from the water column. These plants fare best when tied or glued to hardscape to maintain good water flow around the root system, preventing rot. Anubias Afzelii can be propagated by separating the rhizome in between nodes, as long as each piece has roots and leaves.
